GPW GLASS

GPW (Georgian Polished Wire) glass has long been a practical, budget-friendly option for fire-rated applications, particularly in exit corridors and fire separations. Its distinctive wired mesh—embedded within the glass—helps hold the pane together under heat, maintaining a barrier even if the glass cracks from thermal stress.

You’ll typically find GPW glass in doors, windows, and partitions across schools, offices, and high-rise buildings. Depending on the size and installation, it can provide fire protection for up to 45 minutes. That said, it’s built for fire resistance—not strength—so it isn’t suitable for impact-rated or safety-critical applications.
